Yahoo BIMI: requirements and troubleshooting
Understand when Yahoo displays a BIMI logo and which DMARC, SVG, volume and reputation conditions still matter.
Meet the Yahoo display conditions
Yahoo says it can display a BIMI logo when a valid BIMI record points to an SVG logo, the sender has a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject, the mail is bulk, and the sending address has sufficient reputation and engagement.
Publishing a BIMI TXT record by itself does not guarantee display. Treat BIMI as the last layer on top of authentication and sender reputation, not as a way to repair either one.
Prefer the organizational-domain setup
Yahoo honors BIMI records on subdomains but says it prefers BIMI and DMARC to be configured at the organizational domain level.
Before changing a working DMARC deployment, map which subdomains actually send mail and how policy inheritance applies. BIMI should not be the reason to weaken an established DMARC policy.
Understand Yahoo’s VMC position
Yahoo currently says it does not require a Verified Mark Certificate for BIMI logos to appear in Yahoo applications. If a BIMI record includes a VMC, Yahoo can use it as one signal in overall eligibility.
This is provider-specific. Do not assume the same certificate requirement applies at every mailbox provider.
Troubleshoot in order
Check the BIMI record and SVG first, then confirm DMARC is quarantine or reject, then confirm the message is part of a bulk stream with healthy reputation and engagement. Yahoo notes that changes can take time to propagate.
Test in a fresh Yahoo webmail session before escalating. If the conditions appear to be met and the logo still does not display, Yahoo directs senders to its support channel.
