How to recover Yahoo and AOL deliverability
Stabilize the affected stream, repair the confirmed cause and use fresh Yahoo signals before expanding sending again.
Classify the failure before changing volume
Separate temporary SMTP deferrals, permanent rejections, spam-folder placement and complaint-rate problems. Several can happen at once, but they do not have the same cause or recovery path.
Keep essential service mail and bulk marketing mail identifiable. A complaint problem in a reactivation campaign should not automatically trigger the same action on password resets or receipts.
Stop making the confirmed problem worse
If complaints increased, pause or narrow the audience that generated them and process CFL reports into suppression. If Yahoo is deferring traffic after a sudden sending spike, reduce pressure on the affected route and let the sending system retry temporary responses according to its normal backoff behavior.
If the issue is authentication, rDNS, RFC compliance or invalid recipients, repair that technical cause before increasing volume again.
Use fresh Yahoo evidence
Review Sender Hub Insights for the verified DKIM domain and compare the complaint and delivered signals after the change. Align the timeframe in UTC with your ESP logs.
Use representative SMTP responses to confirm that deferrals or rejections are changing. A better complaint graph does not prove that an unrelated SMTP problem has disappeared.
Escalate only after the basics are clean
Yahoo does not offer a whitelisting program. Its FAQ says a Sender Support Request can be used when you are having difficulty sending or expect a large sending event, but any review does not guarantee inbox delivery.
Send the support team specific diagnostics: affected IPs and domains, representative errors, the first affected date, recent infrastructure changes and the checks you have already completed.
